OTOLARYNGOLOGY CLINICS AND PROCEDURES
MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

On behalf of the faculty and staff of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the American University of Beirut Medical Center- Welcome!

I am proud to be at the helm of a department with almost 100 years of history providing quality patient care and outstanding leadership in education across the Middle East. True to the vision of Daniel Bliss, the founder of AUB back in 1866, successive Chairs of the department- starting with Drs. Webster and Oliver, along with world-class faculty- laid solid foundations for our academic department. It has since produced numerous recognized leaders, not only in academic medicine across the world but also in the private and public health care sector, including government cabinet positions. Today, our ambassadors and alumni are making impactful contributions around the world, as leaders of academic departments in the United States and the Middle East, national and international Otolaryngology societies and as quality practitioners within their communities. We are proud of their achievements and grateful for their continued support of our department.

In 2017, an exciting and transformational change in our model of care delivery will be implemented. Our clinical care facilities and academic space in the new Academic and Clinical Center (Daniel ACC) will provide patient services that are founded on the concept of “Point-of-Care” diagnostics and therapeutics. We will also provide Point-of-Care CT imaging, allergy testing, hearing and balance assessment, voice assessment and analysis and hearing aids right in our clinics, a one-stop-shop to improve patient access, expedite diagnosis and treatment, and reduce cost for our patients. Our clinic space will also include suites for in-office rhinology and laryngology cutting edge therapeutic procedures. In addition, the Daniel ACC will have a dedicated operating room theater in the same building just two floors up from our clinics, an ideal setup for focused, efficient and integrated delivery of care.

We expect our current growth to significantly increase in the years to come. The expansion of our infrastructure will be mirrored by recruitment efforts for clinical and research faculty in most subspecialty areas. Our satellite locations such as KMC will enable us to expand our footprint and bring our expertise and services to communities across Lebanon.
